Several months ago the cottage witch collective got together to talk about prosperity magick in our cooking and we also canned up some Prosperity Tomato Basil Sauce. The recipe and information below all come from Ivy. Let me tell you this sauce is delicious as well as prosperous!
Magickal Breakdown
Tomatoes
Tomatoes have long been associated with prosperity. One tradition was to put a tomato on the mantle to bring
about prosperity. A person would change it out every three days. One reason that pincushions are usually shaped
like tomatoes is because tomatoes didn’t used to be available all year like we have them now. A stuffed tomato
brought that symbolism to the home. Many people eat stewed tomatoes with their black eyed peas at New Year’s
to guarantee their prosperity (and good health). One piece of folklore states that to bring money fast, place a
tomato peeling over your door; you should receive money within 4 days.
Basil
It’s said that if you put a pinch of basil leaves in all corners of your home, it will stay prosperous- refresh at each
seasonal change. In India, it’s used to keep a marriage prosperous. Soaking leaves in water for three days creates
an infusion that one can sprinkle at the doorway of their business (or cubical). Just planting it in the garden draws
prosperity to the home and your pocket.
Onion and garlic
Both onion and garlic are grown deep inside the earth. The earth is the mother of prosperity. It’s she who nurtures
that tiny seed and supports the plant life that sustains us in many ways.

2.) WASH tomatoes; drain. Remove core and blossom ends. Cut into quarters. Set aside.
3.) SAUTE onion and garlic in olive oil until transparent. Add tomatoes. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20
minutes, stirring occasionally.
4.) PUREE tomato mixture in a food processor or blender, working in batches. Strain puree to remove seeds and
peel.
5.) COMBINE tomato puree and basil in large saucepot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until volume is
reduced by half, stirring to prevent sticking.
6.) ADD 1⁄4 tsp Ball® Citric Acid or 1 Tbsp bottled lemon juice to each hot jar. Ladle hot sauce into hot jars leaving
1/2 inch headspace. Remove air bubbles. Wipe rim. Center hot lid on jar. Apply band and adjust until fit is fingertip
tight.
7.) PROCESS filled jars in a boiling water canner for 35 minutes, adjusting for altitude. Remove jars and cool. Check
for seal after 24 hours. Lids should not flex up and down when center is pressed.
